"Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent!"

The mirror test is an experiment developed in 1970 by psychologist Gordon Gallup Jr. to determine whether an animal possesses the ability to recognize itself in a mirror. It is the primary indicator of self-awareness in non-human animals and marks entrance to the mirror stage by human children in developmental psychology. Animals that pass the mirror test are: Humans older than 18 mo, Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Orangutans, Gorillas, Bottlenose Dolphins, Orcas (Killer Whales), Elephants, and European Magpies. Others showing signs of self-awareness are Pigs, some Gibbons, Rhesus Macaques, Capuchin Monkeys, some Corvids (Crows & Ravens) and Pigeons w/training. (Sorry Kitty!)

An extraordinary journey. An experience of wonder. Based on an incredible true story.

In the summer of 1936, rival expeditions trek through China. One group aims to track and kill a Giant Panda. The other, headed by an unexpected leader, seeks to protect pandas - an effort that marks the start of the world's fascination with Giant Pandas.

China: The Panda Adventure thrillingly tells the true saga of Ruth Harkness (Maria Bello of Payback and The Cooler), a society woman who leaves New York and continues the pioneering work of her late husband. Central to the story are the pandas, filmed in China as they eat and cavort. Watching them is an event as magnificent as it is rare. Only 1,000 Giant Pandas exist in the wild today.
